FRANCISCO CALDERON CELIS
Fran is postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physical and Analytical Chemistry at the University of Oviedo from March 2018.
After graduating in Chemistry at University of the Basque Country, he obtained a master's degree in Analytical and Bioanalytical Sciences at University of Oviedo. In 2014 he joined the Analytical Spectrometry Research Group headed by Prof. Sanz-Meded, and obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Alfredo Sanz-Medel and Dr. Jorge Ruiz Encinar. His Ph.D. thesis was focused in the development of new MS-based strategies for protein quantification.
He has broadened his scientific interests through research stays in different international research groups and institutions. Between 2012 and 2013, he conducted a research stay at Utrecht University working on membrane biophysics and biochemistry, in the Bijvoet Center for Biomolecular Research, under the supervision of Prof. J. Antoinette Killian. In 2017 he was visiting researcher in Agilent Technologies Int. Japan (Tokyo), working in the development of innovative instrumental configurations for biomolecules analysis with elemental mass spectrometry. Also in 2017, he was visiting researcher at L'IPREM (University of Pau, France), where he worked with Dr. Laurent Ouerdane in MS top-down protein analysis.
